Opaque Binary Blob (OBB) is an android app expansion files that includes all the graphics, sounds and videos of the game. From the developer point of view, obb is the solution to Google limit of 100mb for android apps. This means an android app apk file size can not be more than 100mb data. Typically, app codes and assets can not exceed the limit but when it comes to game with high graphics, the story is different. All the graphics, sounds, videos and other big items needed for the game will be stored in a separate file in .obb format. This allows developers to develop android games of up to 2gb in size. OBB file you downloaded can be in .rar, .zip or .7z format (usually .zip). The reason is to lightly compress the original game data for easy download and to keep it safe from malware. Procedure
Before you can be able to play android games with obb file, there are three steps you need to take.
- First download both APK and OBB File of the game from a reliable source. You can google that.
- Properly install the APK file on your phone. Do not open!.
- Extract the obb data to the necessary folder and you are good to go.
I guessed you must have done the first two steps already so let's see how to extract obb file on android and start playing your game. I will recommend RAR archiver app to extract your game data file. You can use any file manager app though.
How to Extract OBB File of Any Android Game
- Ensure you have properly downloaded the game obb data and installed the APK but don't open.
- Download & install RAR archiver app from Google play store. Click here.
- Open the app and navigate to the folder where you downloaded the game obb file in.
- Tap on it to open.
- Copy the obb data file including its folder to Android/obb. Press and hold the folder then click Extract files... from the pop-up.
- Once the extraction process completes, launch your game and start playing.
However, if your phone is running on Android OS version 11 and above, the above guide may not work for you to install the game because of Google restrictions on accessing some files such as the obb folder. You will be faced with the issue of "Access denied" or your file manager app showing "The content of this file can't be displayed due to Android 11 restrictions". Procedure to Install APK and OBB Data on Android 11
- Ensure to properly download both the apk and obb from reliable source.
- Install the Apk file of the game but don't Open it.
- Download an old version of RAR app - Click here. Install it and open.
- You'll be redirected to the default Files app to grant permission to access your phone storage. Click on "Use this Folder" and then navigate to the folder you downloaded the obb data.
- Press and hold and click "Extract files..." from the popup menu, then click on "Browse" and navigate to select Android folder (obb folder is hidden).
- Once selected, edit the destination path and type "/obb" in the box to make the full path for the data file.
- Press "Ok" to start extracting the data file.
- After successful extraction, open your app list and launch the game from there.
- Allow access to your phone storage if prompted and start playing.

Extraction error with RAR - How to Fix
If you're facing extraction errors on RAR app, you can fix it with below two steps:
- Tick "Keep broken files" before you start extracting the file.
- Don't minimise the RAR app throughout the extraction process.
If you are still facing extraction problem then it may be that the obb file was not properly downloaded. Re download and try again.
